Box is a cloud-based file storage application where students, faculty, and staff can securely store, manage, and share digital files.

Canvas

Official learning management system for teaching and learning at Rutgers.

Classrooms and Learning Spaces (Rutgers–Newark)

Provides and facilitates technology services to support teaching, learning, administration, and research at the university. Additionally, the department includes the Office of Academic Scheduling and Classroom Management, which schedules and oversees university classrooms.

Clinical and Research Data Warehouse (CRDW)

A secure, HIPAA-compliant central repository that includes diverse healthcare data and essential analytical tools for gaining insights into medical conditions, outcomes, and treatments.

Cloud Finance

Part of the Cornerstone initiative, this is Oracle’s cloud-based integrated financial accounting platform supporting the university’s financial management and reporting needs. Also known as Financial Management System (FMS). Accessible by logging in to myRutgers and selecting the Cornerstone tile (within Apps) where you can find the “Financial Management (Oracle Cloud)” or “Expense Management” tiles.

The cloud services team provides assistance in bringing cloud computing to Rutgers departments and units.

Rutgers offers three cloud storage tools: Box, Microsoft OneDrive, and Google Drive.

DocuSign is a secure electronic signature tool that verifies, routes, tracks, and stores documents requiring signatures.

eduroam is a free and secure wireless network available to the Rutgers community when visiting participating universities.

Faculty, staff, and students who need to send emails to large groups have various options available to them.

Emergency Notification System

Subscribe to Rutgers’ Emergency Notification System (ENS) to receive University Public Safety’s notifications of emergency situations that affect the university.

Free Rutgers service featuring remote device management and support tools. Departmental IT staff maintain control over their organization and have access to OIT support.

The official Rutgers URL shortener, go.rutgers.edu is available to Rutgers faculty, staff, and student workers sponsored by a faculty or staff member.

Grammarly

Grammarly for Education is a writing support tool available to faculty, staff, and students.

Guest NetID

University guests (individuals not directly affiliated with Rutgers) can request a digital identity that provides access to authorized Rutgers services. The guest will need a sponsor to approve the request.

Programs and services of the Information Security Office include IT policy development, risk management, compliance program strategy, and security awareness and training.

IT Project Management

The Project Management Office (PMO) provides project management of enterprise-wide IT initiatives in support of the Rutgers community.

Rutgers Service Management provides consulting, training, and support to build IT service management capabilities throughout the university community.

Mail Relay Service

Mail Relay Service is available for certain network-attached devices like printers and scanners to access email servers without NetID authentication.

Mailman

Mailing list software for creating and managing email lists for university-affiliated announcements or ad-hoc discussions, and viewing list archives from the web.

Microsoft Office

Suite of software including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Free for Rutgers students, faculty, and staff.

Microsoft SharePoint Online

A cloud-based collaboration and content management platform that integrates with Microsoft 365 to connect members of Rutgers University

Microsoft Teams

A communication and collaboration platform that integrates with Microsoft Office 365 for Rutgers students, faculty, and staff.

myRutgers

The myRutgers portal provides a suite of self-service information and resources for the university community. Access myRutgers from your desktop or the mobile app.

NetID

All faculty, staff, students, and guests are assigned a Rutgers unique identifier known as a NetID. A NetID is required to access many services available at Rutgers.

Network Operations Center (NOC)

The Network Operations Center (NOC) provides centralized management of RUNet and support of telecommunications services by monitoring the Rutgers network health and performance.

PeopleSoft

Software system for Human Resources that provides employees with tools and information on job duties, payroll and compensation, benefits, and other personal data. Accessible by logging in to myRutgers and selecting the “Employee Self-Service” tab or the “PeopleSoft management” tile on the “My Apps” tab.

Perceptive Content

Perceptive Content is a full enterprise content management and workflow suite used to handle various content types such as documents and put them in the proper context of an organization’s process or need.

Print Management

Printing services are available at the Office of Information Technology computer labs and for various departments throughout the university.

Qualtrics

Qualtrics enables users to create surveys, generate reports, and gather data.

REDCap

Research Electronic Data Capture, known as REDCap, is a research-enabling web platform for building online databases and surveys and offers Rutgers researchers a secure environment for collecting and managing that survey data.

ResNet

High-speed Ethernet connections are available to Rutgers residence hall students.

Rutgers Active Directory (RAD)

Rutgers Active Directory (RAD) eases collaboration between departments by providing a centralized Enterprise Shared Services platform for common services such as authentication and messaging.

RUWireless

RUWireless Secure is the secure wireless network available to the Rutgers community across the university’s locations.

ScarletApps

A suite of web-based software including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Drive.

Shibboleth

Open software system used to share electronic identities and attributes with multiple organizations and applications. You must be on the Rutgers network or VPN to access.

Sites@Rutgers

Sites@Rutgers is a site-in-a-box solution for the Rutgers community currently in the early access release phase. With this platform, faculty and staff can create a Rutgers website without any previous coding experience.

Software Portal

The University Software Portal features a variety of applications and software available for Rutgers students, faculty, and staff.

Surveys and forms

Rutgers provides access to a number of services and tools for online forms and surveys.

A powerful enterprise business intelligence and data visualization tool that can be leveraged to gain greater insights into the data of interest.

Telepresence

Video conferencing equipment and systems simulating an environment where all participants are together in the same room.

TV streaming

Rutgers offers live television streaming service for departments throughout the university. Service may be requested for public spaces, offices, residence hall lounges, athletic buildings, and other campus areas.

Virtual infrastructure hosting environment available for all IT departments and the university community.

Voice Services and Support

Rutgers uses Cisco telephones to communicate across campus, giving employees access to desk phones with voicemail, call forwarding, campus dialing, and more.

Web conferencing tool with combination of video, voice, content sharing, and chat functions for online meetings.
