The following email was sent to Rutgers IT staff on July 16, 2026.

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that LabArchives, a cloud-based electronic lab notebook (ELN) platform that provides a secure and convenient environment for managing and sharing research data, is now available to the Rutgers community. This initiative builds on the foundational work of the Rutgers University Senate’s Research and Graduate & Professional Education Committee (RGPEC), whose review and resulting resolution helped shape institutional support for the adoption of an enterprise ELN solution. The selection of LabArchives followed a rigorous and collaborative vendor evaluation process involving the Office for Research, Rutgers University Libraries, faculty and staff from the Chancellor-led units, the University Senate, and the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

What can the LabArchives platform be used for?
The platform, managed by the Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) within OIT, provides a secure environment for regulated research data, including HIPAA information.

LabArchives access includes two specific tools: LabArchives for Research, which manages and stores scientific data, and LabArchives Inventory, which provides tracking and supply-chain management functionality for laboratory samples, reagents, and lab equipment.

How can I sign up for the LabArchives platform as a new user?
Simply visit the LabArchives website and register for an account by selecting Rutgers from the institution dropdown menu.

What if I already have an account with LabArchives?
If you have already registered for LabArchives for Research or LabArchives Inventory using your Rutgers email address, you will not need to take any action. Your access to LabArchives data, notebooks, and other materials will not change.

Additional information/questions?
For additional information about training opportunities and/or if you have any questions about LabArchives and ELN features, please reach out to eln-help@oarc.rutgers.edu.
