Research Computing and Data Resources

As research becomes increasingly driven by advanced computing and technology, researchers require powerful resources and expert support to transform ideas into discoveries. The Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) provides the technology, services, and expertise that empower Rutgers researchers and students to turn data into insight and innovation.

Technology

Leading-edge technology available to accelerate research at Rutgers includes Amarel, the high-performance computing and data computing cluster; Clinical Research and Data Warehouse (CRDW) and Amarel PE, the university’s secure, HIPAA- and NIST 800-171-compliant data analytics service and research computing systems; REDCap, a secure environment for collecting and managing survey data; Research Data Storage (RDS), an on-premise system designed for cost-effective and reliable storage for research data, and others.

Research support

OARC’s talented team of research scientists, systems architects, grant administrators, outreach professionals, and business strategists provides expertise and support to the research community in a broad range of specialties and fields. From GIS to bio- and medical informatics, from federal funding regulations to security, from large language models to data management expertise, OARC’s team provides training and workshops, one-on-one and small group consultations, academic guidance, software optimization, and proposal development.

Work with OARC leadership to identify resources and people to help you write effective, technology-enabled grant proposals, raise the visibility of your research on a national scale, support new student initiatives and workforce development goals, collaborate with internal and external providers such as AWS and Google Cloud, and make the best use of OARC’s resources and those of the broader research community.
