Services for the Rutgers community

NetID

All faculty, staff, students, and guests are assigned a Rutgers unique identifier known as a NetID, in order to access most digital services.

Two-step login with Duo

Two-step login with Duo, also known as two-factor authentication, helps protect your account by adding an extra layer of security beyond your password.

Early Employees NetID Request System

OIT will provide Early Employee NetIDs to employees with Social Security numbers who need access to electronic services to perform their assigned duties and whose on-boarding process has been delayed.

CommunityID

CommunityID is an account for a broader, extended community at Rutgers University. Services available with a CommunityID use an email address for login and are generally distinct from services accessible with a NetID. For example, if you are a new student applying for admissions to Rutgers or a parent/guardian who wants to pay a bill for their student, then a CommunityID may be for you.

Guest Request System

Rutgers Guest Request System is an enterprise self-service tool that enables university guests to submit their requests to obtain a digital identity.

Authentication Services

Central Authentication Service

The Central Authentication Service enables a user to be prompted to log in only once to access multiple web applications that are integrated with CAS.

Shibboleth

A solution that enables university users to sign in to non-Rutgers applications using their Rutgers NetID account.

Kerberos

When a user or application authenticates with the central authentication service (CAS), the password is validated against what is stored in the Kerberos password repository.

SSO Decision Flow

This decision flow offers an easy way to determine the recommended SSO technology solution to best meet your application or service’s needs (CAS, Shibboleth, or LDAP/RAD).

Directory Services

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)

The Rutgers University enterprise directory service uses the LDAP standard and protocol to support authentication and provide directory information to units throughout the university.

Rutgers Active Directory (RAD)

RAD eases collaboration between departments by providing a centralized Enterprise Shared Services platform for common services such as authentication and messaging.

Duo

Duo Administration

Duo Administration Panel is a tool that allows authorized users to create and manage Duo administrator accounts. Duo administrator accounts are distinct from Duo user accounts and are used to manage Duo users. Fill out the following form to apply for a Duo administrator account.

Duo integration request form for non-web services

Use this form to request a new integration with NetID+ (Duo) or to migrate your existing 2-factor from SafeNet to Duo.
