Rutgers provides free access to Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Acrobat, and many more Adobe apps and tools. Download now via the University Software Portal, or visit the Rutgers Adobe webpage for training and support.

The Artificial Intelligence at Rutgers webpage offers guidance on using AI at Rutgers, with information on university policies, recommended tools like Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini, and AI features in platforms such as Zoom, Adobe Express, and Grammarly. It also links to AI literacy materials, learning resources, details about the AI@Rutgers Initiative, and more.

Box at Rutgers is a cloud-based platform for securely storing, managing, and sharing files. It offers unlimited storage, easy collaboration, and access from anywhere with an internet connection. Faculty can quickly share links, invite collaborators, and update content as needed.

Digital accessibility is the application of universal design principles and accessibility standards to make websites, web applications, and various services usable by all members of the university community. Resources are available for Rutgers faculty members, web designers/developers, and other staff to address accessibility in information technology.

DocuSign is a secure electronic signature tool that verifies, routes, tracks, and stores documents requiring signatures. It is available for Rutgers faculty to use to replace paper-intensive processes with streamlined digital workflows.

OIT provides Early Employee NetIDs to employees with social security numbers who require access to electronic services to perform their job duties, but are delayed in the onboarding process. Requests must be submitted by a departmental HR representative or hiring authority.

Rutgers Connect, the university-wide Microsoft Office 365 email and calendar service, is used by faculty at Rutgers for official communications.
ScarletMail (Google Workspace for Education) is available to support collaboration with students and can be activated via netid.rutgers.edu.
Rutgers Health faculty must use their assigned departmental email. For PHI-related work, follow the Information Classification Policy (70.1.2).

To manage your email configuration, log in to the My Email Addresses webpage. To learn more about email services as a faculty member, visit the Rutgers Connect website.
- Personalized Email Address: This email address, also known as “Email Alias,” associates you with the university and it is for you to share with others.
- Delivery Email Account: This typically features your NetID and is where you actually receive and read your email (e.g. netid@connect.rutgers.edu).
- Official Rutgers Email Address: This email address is what others will see when they search for your contact information at Rutgers, and it is also where official university notifications are sent (e.g. firstname.lastname@rutgers.edu).

The Enterprise Device Management (EDM) initiative provides remote support tools, device management, enterprise printing, and antivirus services. Utilizing these services, units can decrease workload as well as provide a more efficient user experience.

Access free and discounted software through the University Software Portal. Available products include Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, antivirus software, research applications, and more.

Rutgers faculty get free access to Grammarly for Education, which offers 400+ advanced features beyond the basic version. This includes enhanced vocabulary suggestions, plagiarism detection, grammar-checking, citation assistance, AI features, and more.

Guests are individuals who are not directly affiliated with Rutgers and may include visiting scholars, visiting faculty or staff, contractors, vendors, volunteers, etc. The Rutgers Guest Request System is an enterprise self-service tool that enables university guests to submit their requests to obtain a digital identity (NetID).

You are your best defense against scams, identity theft, and malware. Protect your data by using strong, unique passwords, keeping antivirus software up to date, avoiding phishing emails, and using privacy settings on social media. Utilize single sign-on with NetID and two-step login with Duo, and learn more on Rutgers’ information security website.

Rutgers provides high-speed wireless internet across all campuses for faculty, staff, students, and guests. Wireless networks include:
- RUWireless – For initial setup or guest access.
- RUWireless Secure – Encrypted, secure network for ongoing faculty use.
- RUHealthSciences – Secure access for Rutgers Health faculty, staff, and students.
- eduroam – Encrypted access at Rutgers and participating universities worldwide.

kite+key, Rutgers Tech Store offers discounted tech products, accessories, services, and repairs to students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Shop major brands like Apple, Dell, and Microsoft, or get certified repairs through Tek Chek. Locations are in Piscataway, Newark, and Camden.

Rutgers offers unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning, a platform with thousands of video courses taught by industry experts on various business, technology, and creative skills.

- RAMS (Rutgers Automated Mailing System) allows office university email lists to be generated based on demographic information from the registrar or payroll data, and they can be used for conducting business.
- Mailman is another system that allows users to create and manage their own mailing lists. A mailing list permits users to email an entire group of individuals by specifying only one email address.

Current Rutgers faculty get free access to Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more, on up to five devices. Please note that Publisher and Access are available for Windows only.

myRutgers provides easy access to university services and offers a personalized dashboard, a mobile app available on Android and iOS, and a hub for Rutgers news. View additional features like campus maps, bus schedules, and a social area to stay connected and engaged.

Faculty at Rutgers–New Brunswick, Newark, Camden, and Rutgers Health have access to computer labs and tech centers with Mac and Windows systems, academic software, high-speed printers, scanners, and collaborative spaces. The Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) connects Rutgers researchers with IT experts to expand research capabilities through collaboration, training, and advanced computing resources. OARC manages resources including the Amarel supercomputer, the Clinical and Research Data Warehouse (CRDW), REDCap for secure data collection and management, and the Research Data Storage (RDS) system.

The Alerts page on the Rutgers IT website provides updates on service outages, network connectivity, statuses for platforms like Zoom and Canvas, and scheduled maintenance. You can also follow @RutgersIT on Facebook and X for real-time alerts on your feed.

Access to nearly all Rutgers IT services requires a unique network ID, known as your NetID. Faculty can manage their NetIDs, email addresses, passwords, and other Rutgers IT services on the NetID website.

Rutgers Tech Matters is a monthly e-newsletter produced by the IT communications team and distributed to all faculty and staff (except for the months of June and July). The newsletter shares relevant information about university tech resources, services, and updates, such as new software offerings, training opportunities, and security tips. Many key university tools, like journal access or research computing, aren’t available off campus without a virtual private network (VPN). By using Rutgers’ VPN, faculty can securely access most university resources from anywhere in the world.

Rutgers faculty have free access to three videoconferencing platforms – Zoom, Webex, and Microsoft Teams – for virtual classes, projects, meetings, and more. They offer HD video, screen sharing, chat, voice calling, and file sharing, and can be used on a phone, laptop, or browser from anywhere with internet.

You can access most software programs you would use on the Rutgers computer labs’ PCs remotely via the virtual computer labs. Learn more about the service and view the list of available software.

The Rutgers Voice Services website provides self-service instructions to assist users with the support of VoIP Telephones, voicemail, analog services, audio conferencing, and more. Faculty can also utilize the site to request additional telephone support if needed.
