Generative AI assistants, also known as “chatbots,” allow you to get help with brainstorming ideas, drafting documents, editing computer code, and more. Though these assistants can serve as valuable tools, it’s important to remember that AI-generated content requires human review to ensure accuracy and relevance. 

Microsoft Copilot

Copilot is an AI-powered tool designed to assist users with summarizing documents, generating text, suggesting edits, answering questions, creating images, and more. Whether you’re drafting emails, coding, or preparing presentations, Copilot offers tailored support for your tasks. The tool is a secure option for an AI assistant, using encryption and privacy measures to protect data and adhere to university policies. Additionally, your data is not used to train Copilot’s foundation models. Learn more about privacy and security on the Microsoft 365 website. To access Copilot, log in with your Rutgers email and NetID password.

Google Gemini App

Gemini is an experimental conversational AI tool, similar to ChatGPT, that can assist you in writing, planning, learning, and more. Gemini chats that are created with ScarletMail accounts are not used to train or improve Gemini’s AI models, offering a level of protection not available to commercial Gmail users. Make sure to read the Gemini Apps FAQ for important tips and caveats. Also, check out examples of how Gemini can help you complete a variety of tasks. Please note that the Rutgers subscription to Gemini does not include access to Gemini Advanced, which can analyze your Google files and email. Log in with your ScarletMail address and password.

AI revolution at Rutgers

In 1968 Saul Amarel, an early leader in computer science at Rutgers, wrote a paper about artificial intelligence that put him at the forefront of the AI movement. And today, Rutgers is still breaking ground in the AI field.
