New Amarel ownership terms make high-performance computing resources more accessible
Amarel users can now choose three-year node ownership terms that balance market costs and the ability to own state-of-the-art supercomputing hardware that is immediately available.
What are the benefits of three-year node ownership?
The new ownership terms allow researchers to take advantage of the resource improvements from Amarel’s 2025 upgrade at a prorated cost and timeline compared to full, four-year node ownership terms.
Under the three-year agreements:
- Researchers can purchase Clark nodes for three-year periods beginning October 1, 2026. Term end dates are determined by allocation/start dates.
- Clark CPU nodes will be available at a prorated cost of $8,576.25 per node while Clark GPU nodes will be available for $23,066.25.
What are the benefits of using Amarel resources?
Amarel’s latest hardware upgrade, named Clark, significantly increased supercomputing resources, doubling a standard node’s computing power from 256GB per node to 512GB per node. Additionally, a limited number of NVIDIA 3x L40S GPU nodes became available.
While the Rutgers research community has general access to Amarel resources free of charge, node owners also receive:
- One TB of complementary storage space per node purchased.
- Amarel owners adding additional storage space can do so at a cost of $122.88 per TB per year.
