RU-Camden IT Help Desk

Classroom technology

RU–Camden IT maintains and supports equipment in the many classrooms across the Camden campus. Find the list of classrooms and the equipment they include.

Computer labs

The Rutgers Student Computer Lab is the primary lab. RU–Camden IT also manages the equipment in three computer classrooms, which serve as computer labs when not reserved for classes or events. Remote access to virtual computer labs is also available.

Wireless and printing

The campus has a number of locations where express computers or print stations are available to people who don’t have time to go to a computer lab.

Exam Scanner

The Rutgers Student Computer Lab has an exam scanner for grading Scantron forms. Faculty may reserve the exam scanner. Reservation information, training, and guides are available.

Poster printing

RU–Camden IT will print posters for a small charge. Posters require a minimum of one business day. See templates for popular poster sizes and instructions on how to request printing.

Personal antivirus software

Windows Defender (for Windows) and Avira (for macOS) are available for use on personal equipment not owned by Rutgers.

What is Windows Defender?

Windows Defender is a suite of security utilities designed to protect the Windows Operating System. It includes but is not limited to:

Microsoft Defender Antivirus: A real-time, always-on antivirus protection that comes with Windows 10 and 11.
Microsoft Defender Smart Screen: If a website, application, or download is potentially malicious and could harm your computer, SmartScreen will warn you.
Windows Firewall: Helps prevents hackers or malicious software from gaining access to your PC through the internet or a network.

What is Avira?

Avira is an antivirus protection system that protects your system from all Mac-related online threats (such as viruses, adware, and spyware) and prevents you from passing on PC viruses.
Avira is generally compatible with macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or higher.
Avira requires an active internet connection to download and maintain the most up-to-date threat detection.
This product should not be installed on university-owned equipment.
