App-y fall: Productivity tools at Rutgers to maximize your semester
Work smarter this semester, not harder. Faculty and staff, utilize the technology reminders below to make the most of your time this semester, whether you’re coordinating research, managing courses, supporting students, or something else.
Chat with Copilot or Gemini
If you’re using a random AI chatbot, you have two better options. Rutgers Connect and ScarletApps users can access Microsoft Copilot Chat and Google Gemini at no additional cost. By using either option with your Rutgers Connect or ScarletApps account, your data won’t be used to train Microsoft or Google’s AI models.
Gemini Gems and Gemini sharing on ScarletApps
Gemini Gems and Gemini sharing are now available in ScarletApps. Gemini Gems allows you to create customized AI assistants while relying only on sources you provide.
Meanwhile, Gemini sharing gives you the opportunity to share Gemini chats, generated content and other resources with other users through Google Drive.
Smarter, more secure two-step login
To improve your login security, check this knowledge article for a list of more secure two-step login methods, like Verified Duo Push. And remember, for the best experience, update your iOS or Android software before using the Duo Mobile app.
Survey says: use these tools
Are you creating a quick, straightforward survey or form for your team, department, or user community? Microsoft Forms and Google Forms are included with your Rutgers Connect and ScarletApps accounts, and offer customizable templates, automatic response tracking, and sharing via link, email or QR code.
IT help that’s a message away
The Rutgers IT Help portal’s live chat feature allows students, faculty, and staff to connect to chat-based IT support, including live agents during regular working hours. This complements existing service options, such as phone calls, email, walk-in support and self-service documentation.
Download Tripshot to track Rutgers buses
Tripshot, Rutgers Transportation Services’ official transit app, provides real-time bus tracking, service alerts, trip planning tools, and transportation notifications. Riders can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, set your location to Rutgers University and take some time to explore the app.
