Infrastructure Working Group
The Infrastructure Working Group is evaluating the physical and cloud infrastructure requirements necessary to support the university’s expanding AI initiatives. This includes assessments of space, power, cooling, storage, and networking needs to accommodate high-performance computing systems and large-scale data workflows. The group will examine both on-campus facilities and cloud and external co-location services, to identify scalable, secure, and cost-effective options which meet the diverse needs of researchers across a variety of disciplines. The group will also review funding methods and strategies for cost recovery and shared resource management, enabling the university to support infrastructure investments through sponsored research. Solutions will also be aimed at reducing energy use and the carbon footprint. Findings will be shared with OIT leadership to assist in their efforts to support AI with responsible infrastructure planning.
