ChatGPT Edu at Rutgers offers access to AI tools for writing, researching, coding, and more through subscription plans available in the University Software Portal. By purchasing a monthly subscription, Rutgers’ data is protected from being used to train OpenAI’s models.

Create and share custom GPTs (the LLMs developed by OpenAI) for specific tasks.

Offers access to priority support for technical assistance.

Consider using tools available at no additional cost or Microsoft 365 Copilot.

At this time, OIT recommends using the existing AI tools provided by Rutgers unless your unit has an immediate need for ChatGPT Edu.

Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot perform many of the same tasks as ChatGPT Edu, at a lower price. By logging in with your Rutgers account, your data is not used to train their AI models.
