Connect to eduroam: Rutgers’ new Wi-Fi network

The following email message was sent to Rutgers students, faculty, and staff on September 29, 2026.

Dear Members of the Rutgers Community:

As of today, eduroam is Rutgers’ primary Wi-Fi network. Going forward, computers, phones, tablets, and other devices operating at Rutgers locations will need to connect to eduroam.

If your devices currently connect to RUWireless Secure, we encourage you to move them to eduroam now. RUWireless Secure will remain available during the transition this fall, but it will be turned off on January 5, 2027. Moving your devices now will help ensure that you stay connected without interruption.

How do I connect to eduroam?
To connect, visit the Rutgers eduroam website. The website includes step-by-step instructions, the eduroam FAQ, and other resources.

What is eduroam?
The eduroam service is a secure Wi-Fi network for the global higher education and research community. It is used by thousands of institutions around the world, including many of Rutgers’ Big Ten peers. In addition to providing Wi-Fi at Rutgers, eduroam lets you connect more easily at participating universities and research institutions when you travel.
