Impressive data, major tech projects, and more in the Rutgers IT annual review

The 2021-2022 academic year was one to remember as students, faculty, and staff populated the Rutgers grounds once again and Rutgers IT continued to play a key role in how the university community stayed connected both in-person and online.

The 2021-2022 Rutgers IT annual review showcases those accomplishments, including a variety of impressive statistics: four quadrillion bytes of typical internet traffic, six million ScarletMail messages per week, nearly 90,000 phone calls fielded by the OIT Help Desk, and lots more.

“Without a doubt, a lot has changed in the past year,” said Michele Norin, senior vice president and chief information officer. “As I looked over the statistics and accomplishments in this year’s report, one theme is a constant—the hard work and dedication of the Rutgers IT professionals who have played an essential role in these efforts.”

Rutgers IT staff continued to deliver efficient, reliable technology services and support to the university community this year, from data centers and research computing resources to Canvas, Rutgers Connect, and Zoom. Scroll through these IT stories and accomplishments in the 2021-22 annual review.
