In Progress
As part of a major upgrade, the email list manager Mailman will be unavailable for approximately 10 hours, starting tonight at approximately 10 p.m. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the OIT Help Desk.
Update
Starting tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 8), new list creation in Mailman will be disabled until January 14 as work begins on a major Mailman upgrade.
The upgrade will also delete unmoderated emails and list membership requests at 10 p.m. on January 13, when the entire system will be unavailable for approximately 10 hours. If you are a Mailman administrator or moderator, you will need to process all list membership requests and moderate all pending emails before 10 p.m. on January 13.
The upgraded Mailman will debut on January 14. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the OIT Help Desk.
Scheduled
A new version of the email list manager Mailman will be introduced on January 14, entirely revamping the service for email announcements and discussions. The new version includes numerous improvements, including a modern, streamlined user interface and the ability to access all your email lists, settings, and archives with the use of your NetID and password.
During the transition, Mailman will be unavailable from 10 p.m. on January 13 until 8 a.m. on January 14. The ability to create new lists will be disabled from January 8 until the transition is complete on January 14.
If you are a Mailman administrator or moderator, you will need to process all list membership requests and moderate all pending emails before 10 p.m. on January 13. Once the transition begins at 10 p.m. on January 13, those prior requests and emails will be deleted.
What is improving?
With this new version of Mailman, Rutgers list owners and moderators will be able to log in with a NetID and password using the Central Authentication Service (CAS) to review settings, moderate messages, view archives, and perform other Mailman-related tasks for all their lists, all from one control center. These changes will make it far easier to manage email lists with Mailman and to find and use all of the features Mailman offers.
Rutgers users will also be able to log in to the new version of Mailman with a NetID and password to access all their lists, making it easier for them to access lists settings and subscribe or unsubscribe from lists.
