Services unavailable for data center upgrades on June 1-2

This weekend’s technology maintenance and upgrades at the Hill Data Center have been completed. Technology services hosted at the Hill Data Center are being restored between now and tomorrow morning (Monday, June 3).

A number of Rutgers information technology services and systems hosted in the Hill Data Center will be unavailable due to planned enhancements, maintenance, and repairs at the data center on June 1-2. This work will reduce the risk of outages and make it easier to conduct data center maintenance without major interruptions.

To safely and effectively complete these repairs and accomplish the required maintenance activities, the data center will be offline for approximately 24 to 36 hours, beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. Once the upgrades are complete and the data center is back online, technology services hosted at the Hill Data Center will be restored between Sunday evening, June 2, and early Monday morning, June 3.

The following services hosted in Hill Data Center will be unavailable:

  • Eden services
  • Mailman (ad-hoc mass emailing service)
  • Nagios Service Monitoring
  • RAMS (Rutgers’ official mass emailing service)
  • RATS (NetID management services)
  • RCI-hosted virtual mail domains and other RCI services
  • RUWireless guest account creation
  • University Software Portal (software.rutgers.edu)

Services hosted in the Hill Data Center for the following academic, administrative, and research departments will be unavailable: 

  • Chemistry, Protein Data Bank, Proteomics
  • Climatology
  • Dining Services
  • Division of Continuing Studies
  • Engineering
  • Enrollment Management
  • Enterprise Client Services
  • Finance/Procurement
  • Housing
  • Information Technology Services
  • Internal Auditing
  • Office of Advanced Research Computing (Amarel and Didact)
  • Planning and Public Policy
  • Risk Management
  • School of Arts and Sciences
  • School of Communications and Information
  • Statistics

The following services hosted in Hill Data Center may be degraded or intermittently unavailable:

  • Enterprise Application Services Kerberos (authentication)
  • Enterprise Messaging LDAP
  • Enterprise Messaging Mail Relay Services
  • HDRT (problem ticketing system)
  • mx.rutgers.edu (@rutgers.edu et al. forwarding)
  • OpenLDAP
  • RUWireless and RUWireless Secure
  • RCI-hosted websites
