OmniSOC offering hands-on cybersecurity summer internship for Rutgers students

Hackers, viruses, threats, mitigation and detection. Sound interesting to you? If so, you may be a top candidate for the 2020 summer internship program with OmniSOC, a shared cybersecurity operations center for higher education.

Founded by Rutgers and four other Big Ten institutions (Indiana University, Northwestern University, Purdue University, and University of Nebraska-Lincoln), OmniSOC is offering Rutgers students the opportunity to dive deep into the world of cybersecurity and gain real-world experience this summer.

This hands-on internship program enables students to get an inside look at the large-scale security operations center located at Indiana University and work with the OmniSOC team to hunt down viruses, protect campus networks, and enhance cybersecurity processes.

Accepted students will visit OmniSOC on the campus of Indiana University–Bloomington for four weeks (May 29-June 26, 2020) and then return to Rutgers University to complete another four-week project (July 6-31, 2020).

OmniSOC and its partners launched this Big Ten internship program last summer and is now accepting applications for the 2020 summer internship program. This will be an opportunity for interested Rutgers students to:

  • Expand their overall awareness of security issues and receive real-world cybersecurity experience
  • Define, research, and present a program project
  • Meet with IT professionals and security experts from major organizations
  • Live in on-campus housing while at Indiana University–Bloomington
  • Receive a stipend

The application deadline for this program is Wednesday, April 1. To review additional information or submit an application, please visit the OmniSOC website.
