Requesting Information Security Risk Management services

Whether you’re launching a new application, onboarding a vendor, or needing a quick security consultation, the Information Security Risk Management team is ready to assist you. Engaging us early to help you make informed risk decisions and improve your security posture. Please reach out to us using ServiceNow or Microsoft Forms. Both options gather the same information and will direct your request to the Information Security Risk Management team.

Please note: The Information Security Risk Management Intake Form should be completed by a subject matter expert (SME) who understands the technical details requested throughout the questionnaire. If you are not familiar with the technical components, we strongly recommend that you coordinate with your department’s technical lead or have them submit the form on your behalf to ensure accuracy and avoid delays in the assessment process.

What to expect

  • Service-Level Agreement (SLA) – Risk Assessments are typically completed within 7–20 business days, depending on the sensitivity of the data and the complexity of the assessment.
  • Timely reviews – Submitting early ensures ample evaluation time and helps prevent downstream delays. We work hard to deliver a clear, actionable report within the SLA window.

Our role—your decision

The Information Security Risk Management office evaluates risks in accordance with Rutgers’ information classification policies and regulatory requirements. We provide risk-based intelligence to help business units make informed decisions. The choice to proceed—and any remaining risk associated with it—always rests with you.

Once your request is in our queue, we will confirm the details, assign the appropriate risk specialists, and outline the following steps, allowing you to remain focused on your project while we protect the university’s data and systems.
