A variety of IT services, including some at Rutgers, are being affected by a global security vulnerability with a programming language widely used in websites and other online systems.

IT staff at Rutgers are aware of the issue and are working to upgrade and patch systems using the programming language, PHP. Some IT systems or tools may have limited or sporadic availability as the security vulnerability is addressed.

Systems currently known to be impacted include, but may not be limited to:

  • Onboarding to eduroam is temporarily unavailable. The eduroam service remains available for Wi-Fi. (The issue with eduroam was resolved as of about 6 p.m. on October 21.)
  • REDcap, a research-enabling web platform for building online databases and surveys, is currently unavailable.

The Office of Information Technology will post updates when available.

If you are experiencing any issues not listed here, please contact the OIT Help Desk at 848-445-HELP (4357) or send a message to help@oit.rutgers.edu.
