Notification

The Office of Information Technology’s Information Security Office (ISO) is aware of a payroll phishing scam targeting Rutgers community members. The fraudulent email uses the subject line “[RU-Alert] – Urgent Notice” and claims there is “1 New Notification Regarding Your 2025 Payroll.” It may appear to come from a university address but actually originates from an external sender. The message includes a link that appears to lead to a Rutgers website, but when hovered over, directs to a malicious external site designed to steal sensitive information.

If you receive an email matching this description, do not click any links or enter your credentials. Always hover over links to verify their true destination before clicking, and report suspicious messages immediately to abuse@rutgers.edu. If you already clicked the link or entered your information, contact Payroll Services and abuse@rutgers.edu right away for assistance.
