Data Loss Prevention Services (DLP)

The  Information Security Office offers Data Loss Prevention (DLP) services to departments, schools and units that manage data classified as Critical, Restricted and/or Internal under the 70.1.2-Information Classification Policy. These tools prevent certain types of data, such as Personal Health Information, Confidential information, and other proprietary Rutgers information, from being accessed or removed from systems that house the data.


Monitor
Know where data is going if it’s removed from a Rutgers system.


Alert
Warn users that their actions don’t align with university policies.


Prevent
Stop data from being sent to the wrong place.


Protect
Prevent unauthorized people from accessing your data.

DLP can be an additional layer of security to help you meet regulatory, legal or contractual requirements. These baseline resources can assist you with the submission process for DLP services.

Requesting DLP Services

The Information Security Office works closely with the university community to define the scope of their security needs. Someone from the ISO Compliance Team will contact you to confirm receipt of your request.
