Zoom client update on Wednesday, December 1

Please be aware that due to necessary security enhancements, Rutgers updated to the latest client version of Zoom tonight, Wednesday, December 1 at 10 p.m. This update includes:

  • Automatic updates for Windows and macOS
  • Silent auto-update now enabled by default
  • Presentation slide control
  • Spotlight self for host in “Participants” list
  • Other security enhancements

As a result of this update, users who are not currently running the latest client version will experience a short pause (1-2 minutes) to install the new version of Zoom before joining their next meeting.

After installation, users will see a pop-up message indicating that they can choose to automatically keep Zoom up-to-date. Two options will be offered: Slow (for fewer updates and better stability) and Fast (for new features). OIT recommends choosing the Slow option.
