Passcodes/waiting rooms required for all Zoom meetings starting Sept. 27

Several changes were made to the Zoom security features on September 27. Rutgers now requires passcodes for all newly scheduled meetings. These passcodes have been automatically enabled. Waiting rooms are optional.

Several changes have been made to the Zoom security features going into effect on September 27. Starting September 27, Rutgers will require passcodes for all newly scheduled meetings. These passcodes will be automatically enabled. Waiting rooms will be optional. Zoom will NOT automatically enable a waiting room in your meetings.

Since only new Zoom meetings scheduled after September 27 will require a passcode, you do not have to add a passcode or resend meeting invites to previously scheduled meetings. If you already started adding passcodes to existing meetings, those meetings will stay as-is.

In order to create a secure video meeting experience for Zoom accounts, starting September 27, 2020, ALL Zoom meetings will require a passcode or a waiting room enabled. If you choose a passcode as your security method, please note passcodes are unique to each meeting and will be embedded into your meeting links automatically. For any meetings that do not have an embedded passcode or waiting room enabled, starting September 27, Zoom will enable a waiting room for you.
