The tool then uses Google’s Gemini AI to analyze, digest, and make connections between the uploaded material. NotebookLM can generate study guides, FAQs, timelines, personalized podcasts, and more from the provided sources.
What is the difference between NotebookLM and traditional AI chatbots?
Whereas AI chatbots are designed to converse with users and provide recommendations or responses, NotebookLM’s primary use is interpreting uploaded sources and extracting insights from the material. Since users choose the material that’s uploaded to NotebookLM, it generates responses based solely on that content, rather than broader AI training data.
What information is permitted with NotebookLM at Rutgers?
NotebookLM is part of ScarletApps—Rutgers’ version of the Google suite of services—and is intended primarily for academic purposes at Rutgers. Protected Health Information (PHI) should not be uploaded to NotebookLM. Additionally, NotebookLM should not be used with Rutgers business information or data, such as internal memos and planning documents.
