Resolved
Moving forward, to avoid any error messages, faculty should add a “Grading Scheme Name” when using the Grading Scheme function in Canvas. Users need to update the “New Grading Scheme” field with new text. If that field is updated, there should be no other remaining issues when entering grading schemes. Instructure, the parent company of Canvas, aims to implement a permanent fix in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact your local Office of Information Technology Help Desk.
Investigating
Faculty may encounter an error message, “Cannot have negative ranges or rangers that are greater than 100” when using the Grading Scheme function to set their grade ranges (A, B+, B, C+, etc.) in Canvas. The Office of Information Technology is working with Instructure, the parent company of Canvas, to resolve this issue.
In the meantime, users should edit the “scheme name” on the form to say anything else besides “New Grading Scheme.” If users add a new scheme name, the issue should be resolved. If you have any questions, please contact your local Office of Information Technology Help Desk.
