What is a Zoom Webinar?
Zoom Video Webinar allows you to broadcast a Zoom meeting to view-only attendees. As the host or a panelist, you can share your screen, video, and audio in a webinar, while attendees can use the chat or question and answer options to interact with the host and panelists.
Webinars can require preregistration—with the option for the host to add custom registration questions—or registration can be turned off for attendees to join by simply clicking a link at the time of the webinar. Webinars can be held once, can reoccur in a series, or can be the same session held multiple times.
You can read more about Webinars at the Zoom Website.
What is the difference between a Zoom Meeting and a Zoom Webinar?
|Description||Zoom meetings are ideal for hosting more interactive sessions where you’ll want to have lots of audience participation or break your session into smaller groups.||Think of webinars like a virtual lecture hall or auditorium. Webinars are ideal for large audiences or events that are open to the public. Typically, webinar attendees do not interact with one another. Though Zoom provides options for you to get more social with your attendees, your average webinar has one or a few people speaking to an audience.|
|Best used for||Small to large groups (2+ participants) for personal meetings, sales meetings, training sessions||Large events and public broadcasts (50+ attendees) such as town halls, quarterly updates, and educational lectures|
Who is eligible for a Zoom Webinar license?
Zoom Webinar licenses can be assigned to personal Zoom accounts or Zoom Service Accounts. We recommend requesting Webinar licenses for departmental accounts to allow multiple users the ability to access recordings and registration information related to your Zoom Webinars.
How do I request a Webinar License?
We currently offer four different size Webinar Licenses:
- Webinar 500 (Max attendee limit 500)
- Webinar 1000 (Max attendee limit 1000)
- Webinar 3000 (Max attendee limit 3000)
- Webinar 10,000 (Max attendee limit 10,000)
If you would like the Webinar 500 license turned on for your personal or departmental account, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to the limited quantity of licenses, we are unable to permanently assign the Webinar 1000, Webinar 3000, and Webinar 10,000 licenses. If you are in need of the larger license, please use the following Bookings Calendar to submit a request to use the larger license. We will increase your Webinar capacity on the day of your event.
Please note that the Webinar License increase will not affect the attendee link or any settings you have already set on a Webinar. You will be able to schedule an event with an expected large attendee turnout with any sized Webinar license. On the day of the event, the Webinar increase will only affect how many attendees can join your Webinar, no other changes should be noticed.
Please note that Webinar 100 and Webinar 500 license usage will be checked periodically. If you do not actively use the Webinar license, it will be removed from your account.
