Accessing Azure Virtual Desktop from the web


Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a new virtualization service hosted in the Microsoft cloud called Azure. It allows multiple users to access one copy of a Virtual Windows 10. This maximizes hardware potential and extends the compute options for Rutgers University. Users can access their applications anywhere that they have an internet connection.

Webclient: Azure Virtual Desktop

  1. Navigate to the Azure Virtual Desktop
    • If you are a non-RBHS student, enter your ScarletMail email address in the format netid@scarletmail.rutgers.edu.
    • If you are Faculty, Staff, or a RBHS Student, enter your Rutgers Connect email in the format netid@domain.rutgers.edu.
    • If you are a Guest, enter your Rutgers Connect email in the format netid@domain.rutgers.edu or if you do not have a Connect email use netid@rad.rutgers.edu

  2. Enter your NetID password, then click Sign In.

  3. After logging in a list of available applications will be displayed. Click the Lab Desktop icon to launch the virtual desktop.

  4. A second prompt will come up to login, make sure you enter your NetID email as the username and your NetID password.

  5. You can navigate back to the application page by clicking All Resources and close an open Application by clicking the X to the right of the desired Application.

  6. When you are finished, you can logout of the webpage by clicking on your Username in the upper right hand corner, then clicking on Sign Out from the dropdown.
