Setting up Outlook on Mac for ScarletMail


Before attempting to configure Outlook for ScarletMail, be sure you have activated your ScarletMail account

You'll need to first enable IMAP on your ScarletMail account. 

  1. Go to Gmail and login with your ScarletMail email formatted as netid@scarletmail.rutgers.edu
  2. Once logged in, in the top right, click the Settings (gear icon) then select See all settings.
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  4. In the "IMAP access" section, select Enable IMAP.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Once IMAP is enabled you can begin to configure Outlook.

  1. Open the Microsoft Outlook application on your Mac.
  2. On the top toolbar go to the Tools dropdown menu, then click Accounts
  3. Click the + icon, then Add Account
  4. Enter your ScarletMail email in the format of netid@scarletmail.rutgers.edu then click Continue.
  5. Click Continue again. 
  6. A new window will open and prompt you to sign into your account. 
  7. Login with your NetID and NetID password
  8. Select Allow to grant Outlook access to your ScarletMail account. 
  9. If prompted, allow the browser to open and redirect you back to Microsoft Outlook. 
  10. You'll see a confirmation that your account has been added. Click Done to finish the setup.
