This function allows a gateway between a Usenet group and your Mailman list. This means that Mailman can attempt to gather messages from and deliver messages to a Usenet group. Mailman (and Rutgers) has no control over the Usenet group, and it must be appropriately configured to allow your list access.
NNTP Host and Linked Newsgroup Options
The nntp_host option tells Mailman where the news server’s hostname is located.
The linked_newsgroup option tells Mailman which group to form a gateway with.
Gateway to News and Gateway to Mail Options
The gateway_to_news option tells Mailman to automatically attempt to post any new list messages to the Usenet group.
The gateway_to_mail option tells Mailman to send any Usenet group postings to the list automatically.
News Moderation and News Prefix Subject Too Options
The news_moderation option tells Mailman moderation policy for the Usenet group. This only applies if you are forwarding messages to a Usenet group (gateway_to_news).
The news_moderation option tells Mailman moderation policy for the Usenet group. This only applies if you are forwarding messages to a Usenet group (gateway_to_news)/ If the Usenet group is not moderated, or if you are only receiving messages from the group and not sending any to it, set this to None.
If the Usenet group is moderated, you can make this mailing list the moderation address for the Usenet group. Select Moderated, and all postings sent to the list will be held until an owner/administrator or moderator can approve them.
The Open list, moderate group choice, holds all messages for moderation and, once approved, forwarded to the Usenet group with an Approved header (for Usenet group permission).
The news_prefix_subject_too allows you to disable the mailing list prefix set on the General options from being added to the mail sent to the newsgroup.
Mass Catchup Options
The mass_catchup option tells Mailman to ignore any existing Usenet group postings and only to gather new postings to the Usenet group for delivery to the Mailman list.
